Sheriff to introduce new patrol dogs at open house

WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office is inviting the public to meet its two newest deputies, down a few hot dogs and quaff sodas on Saturday.

“Gudy” and “Farel,” the office’s recently acquired K-9 patrol dogs, will be present with their handlers at the 11 a.m.-1 p.m. open house hosted at L&G Ranch and Supply. The store is at 2930 Isaacs Ave.

Both dogs were purchased for the sheriff’s office by the Walla Walla Sheriff’s Foundation in December last year, and recently graduated from the Criminal Justice Training Center with high marks.

The dogs are trained in tracking, protection and criminal apprehension work. The sheriff’s office may also eventually have one of the dogs trained for drug detection work.
