PASCO — The Northwest Xplosion ‘00 12-and-under girls fastpitch team won the 14-and-under silver bracket in the Spring Breeze Fastpitch tournament held in Pasco over the weekend.
Xplosion ‘00 opened Saturday’s play with an 11-run first inning to rout the Tri-City Threat, 16-0. They then faced the Washington Force ‘99, out of Tri-Cities, and fell by a score of 5-2.
In the third game on Saturday, Xplosion ‘00 led the Washington Explosion, the eventual gold bracket champions, by a score of 1-0 after four innings. They then gave up five runs in the fifth inning to fall to Washington by a score of 5-2.
After concluding Saturday’s play with a 1-2 record, Xplosion ‘00 was seeded in the silver bracket for Sunday’s play. On Sunday, thanks to an 11-hit attack, Xplosion ‘00 won the semifinal contest over the Tri-City Threat, 7-0.
In the championship game versus the Colville Tribe, Xplosion ‘00 was led by a no-hitter by pitcher Kamryn Coleman. Xplosion ‘00 hitters also collected 11 hits en route to a mercy-rule victory, 14-0, after four innings.
The Xplosion ‘00 overall record on the season is now 22-6 and they will be in action again on May 25-27 in the Sterling Invite in Wenatchee.
