WALLA WALLA —The Walla Walla School Board will be asked to accept the resignation of a fellow board member during its regular meeting Tuesday.

The board meets at 6:30 p.m. in the district’s board room, 364 S. Park St. Meetings are open to the public.

District communications director Mark Higgins said the district is treating the resignation as a personnel matter, and the name of the board member seeking to resign from the board would not be released until during the meeting.

“The name of the school board member will be announced during the meeting as part of the action item approval process,” Higgins said in a written statement.

Board president Anne Golden, when reached by phone Sunday evening, would not comment on the matter.

The board is currently represented by Golden, Dan Hess, Cindy Meyer, Ruth Ladderud and Max Carrera. All were elected to the board except for Ladderud, who was appointed by the board to replace Jim Lehmann last fall.

Lehmann left the board at that time to relocate to the East Coast and dedicate more time to family.

Ladderud and Meyer, whose terms are up for re-election in November, both recently indicated they will seek another term on the board. Hess will be retiring from the board this fall and is not seeking reelection. Carrera could not be reached by phone Sunday.

As Board Members are Elected positions could anyone tell me why this is being treated as a District Personnel Matter? Do the Board Members now report to the Superintendent? Just Wondering....
