The Walla Walla County Health Department will sponsor three showings of “Sin by Silence” this month.

The film tells the stories of women imprisoned for killing an abusive partner, said Janene Michaelis, Health Department special projects coordinator.

In 2012 the Walla Walla Police Department received 737 domestic-violence-related calls, she said. Screenings of the film are intended to raise awareness of domestic violence and address prevention.

Following the presentations, local domestic-violence professionals will address audience questions.

Screenings are Wednesday, 7 p.m. at the YWCA; May 28, 7 p.m. at Walla Walla University, room 209 in the Winter Education Complex; and May 29, 1:30 p.m. at Walla Walla Community College in the Student Activity Center, second floor of the main building.

For more information, call Michaelis at 524-2625.
