PASCO — The Walla Walla Xplosion ’98 14U softball team took third-place hardware in the Gold Division at the Spring Breeze Invite at the TRAC last weekend.
Xplosion ’98 started Saturday with a win over the Liberty Lake Lightning, 8-0. In their second game, they beat the Selah Storm, 10-5, and in their final game of the pool play Saturday, they were defeated by the Washington Angels, 2-0.
That gave them second place in pool play, which got them to the Gold Division for bracket play on Sunday, which six of 11 teams made.
Xplosion ’98 beat the Young Guns out of Pendleton, 8-0, which moved them into the Gold Division semifinals against the Washington Xplosion.
The Washington Xplosion, the eventual Gold Division champions, scored twice in the fifth and four runs in the sixth to defeat Walla Walla Xplosion ’98 in the semifinals 6-0.
The Walla Walla Xplosion ’98 team finished 3rd place in the Gold Division due to a forfeit by the Force ’99. They have a record of 9-2.
The Xplosion ’98’s next tournament is this weekend at Washington Angels Invite in Kennewick.
