Elite D is elite in 26-0 stomping over Vikes


WAITSBURG — Defense wins football games and the Waitsburg Elite “D” shut out the Snohomish Vikings Saturday in a 26-0 stomping.

The Elite’s defense also scored nine points of its own, with a safety and interception return for a touchdown.

Justin Hickman had the interception return for a touchdown, with a scamper of 85 yards for the score. The safety came on a bad Vikings snap that sailed out the back of the end zone.

Waitsburg’s Jesus Solis nailed a 46-yard field goal to open scoring in the second quarter.

Waitsburg quarterback George Martinez went 13-for-22 with a touchdown and 183 yards.

Myke Summers led all Elite rushers with 12 carries and 57 yards.

The Elite (3-2 overall, 3-1 league) play again Saturday at 6 p.m. against the Palouse Thunder at Waitsburg High School.
