RICHLAND — Walla Walla High School’s baseball team fell in a loser-out regional playoff game, 11-4, against Mead at Richland High School Saturday.
The Blue Devils got out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning and Mead responded with four runs in the top of the third.
A misplayed throw to first base in the top of the third allowed three un-earned Mead runs to score.
Wa-Hi made four errors in the game.
Wa-Hi tied the game at 4-all in the bottom of the third with two runs of their own, but missed a chance to take the lead after a baserunner got caught stealing and another was stranded.
“Our kids battled, but give Mead credit, they hit the ball well,” Wa-Hi coach Keith Gradwohl said. “This ends our season, but to make it to regionals with all the injuries we had, I’m really proud of these guys.”
Wa-Hi’s Keltan Fulmer had three hits and Zane Henderson had two hits.
Wa-Hi graduates nine seniors this season and finished the season with an overall record of 7-15.
