MILTON-FREEWATER — Ontario, Oregon’s reigning Class 4A state baseball champion, pummeled the host Mac-Hi Pioneers Friday, 15-0 and 12-0, both in five innings.

The Pioneers committed nine errors in the twin bill and mustered only four hits.

“If you’re going to compete against a really good team like Ontario,” Mac-Hi coach Mike Garcia said, “then you have to bring your top offensive and defensive games to the field. We didn’t do that with the nine errors and only (four) hits. ”

Mac-Hi’s Jeffrey Jones tripled in game one. Dylan Shuler, Derek Richwine and Eddie Zaragosa all collected hits in the second game.

The Pioneers finish the regular season at 10-13.

It has yet to be determined if the Pioneers will make the state playoffs.
