DUFUR — The Weston-McEwen High School baseball team split a doubleheader with Dufur here Saturday, losing the opener 11-5 and winning the second game 11-1 in five innings.
In game one, W-M got out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third.
By the end of the fourth, Dufur rallied to an 8-2 lead and cruised to the win.
KJ White slugged a grandslam in game two and had two ground-rule doubles with seven RBIs.
“We let game one get away from us,” W-M coach TJ Haguewood said. “Things haven’t always been going our way lately but it was nice to get a win a in game two behind a great pitching performance from Lance Thacker.”
W-M tied for the No. 3 seed going into the district playoffs with Pilot Rock and the Rockets own the tiebreaker.
The TigerScots will play as the No. 4 seed against the No. 5 seed, Irrigon, in The Dalles Saturday in loser-out game. The winner will play the loser of the No. 2 and No. 3 seed game Tuesday in Dufur for the right to advance to the state playoffs.
