CP police investigate report man tried to lure boys

COLLEGE PLACE — Police are investigating a report that an unidentified man attempted to lure two young boys into his truck Monday afternoon near Davis Elementary School.

According to police, two boys, 7 and 9, were walking home after school about 2:40 when a white male in an extended-cab pickup pulled over and asked them if they wanted to get into his truck.

The boys ran north on Ash Street and contacted authorities, who said there was no indication the suspect tried to follow the boys.

Marianne Barr, spokesperson for the College Place Police Department, said the incident appears to be isolated but is being taken seriously.

“There’s always concern when something like that happens,” Barr said. “The boys did the right thing.”

According to Barr, the boys described the man as “older” with light blond or white hair. The truck, according to the older boy, was white with a dark blue stripe on the side. The younger boy described the truck as yellow with a black stripe, but was less sure Barr said.
