Gaming hotspot Arcade-ia remains open while addressing issues

A little update on downtown Walla Walla’s new gaming hotspot: Arcade-ia continues to operate as owners address code concerns raised last week by the Walla Walla Joint Community Development Agency.

It looked as if it might have been a temporary game over for the business before things really began late last week. About two weeks after the official opening fo the business, a building official with the planning and building agency discovered a number of issues with the operation that need to be addressed.

However, the agency and city have granted temporary occupancy to give operators time to address the concerns without a hiccup in the business.

Some of the chief issues included the use of extension cords to power the many video games; inadequate restroom facilities for the space; and other fixes to lighting and egress access. Several of the concerns have already been addressed. Some will reportedly take more time.

In the meantime, Arcade-ia is operating 4-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 4 p.m.-midnight Friday; noon-midnight Saturday; and noon-11 p.m. Sunday at 527 E. Main St. For more details, call 876-4208.
