Walla Walla native wins horse cutting title


WALLA WALLA — Walla Walla native Kenny Pugh Jr. recently won a national title at the National Cutting Horse Association Western National Championships in Reno, Nev.

Pugh won the $3,000 Novice division riding Cat Splash, owned by Gig Harbor’s Amy Becken.

Pugh won $5,430 with the title, which increased his lifetime winnings to $488,023. Cat Splash has lifetime earnings of $28,441.

Pugh also won a reserve championship in the $10,000 Novice division.

Pugh trains horses in Milton-Freewater and is a AAAA judge for the National Horse Cutting Association.
