WESTON — A Weston City Council meeting which was adjourned May 15 due to lack of quorum has been rescheduled for Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
The council was discussing the city’s wastewater loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture when several councilmembers walked out of the meeting, ending a quorum needed to conduct business.
Under the terms of the loan, the city was required to pay into a reserve fund to finance any needed renovations to the wastewater system over the course of its life. However, the city has not been making the payments.
Councilmember Bill Boyd said the reserve fund “slipped through the cracks” and the city only became aware of it after their loan was given to a new administrator.
“This is an aspect that was overlooked by both the oversight and the city,” he said.
Thursday’s meeting will continue discussion about the loan, as well as other city business which was on the agenda at last week’s scheduled meeting.
The meeting will be held in Weston-Athena Memorial Hall, at 210 E Main St.
