PENDLETON — Singer/songwriter Cal Scott will take the stage at the Pendleton Center for the Arts, 214 N. Main St., at 7 p.m. May 31.
He will be joined by notable singer and fiddle player Kathryn Claire to celebrate the release of his new CD, “Carved Wood Box.”
Scott is well known for his work with The Trail Band, as well as the extensive work he’s done composing music for Ken Burns’ documentaries.
He recently won first place in The Great American Song Contest, a national competition with 15,000 entries.
His song “Paid Too Much for the Diamond” was chosen in the Singer/Songwriter category.
Scott’s new release features 11 songs recorded in 2011 and 2012 in Portland, Nashville, Northern Ireland and Belgium.
The idea for the CD came about during Scott’s tours with renowned Irish fiddler Kevin Burke, with whom he records and performs.
