Pirate Lomen-Carr wins 1B pole vault

CHENEY — A state title and a new Class 1B state meet record in the pole vault.

You couldn’t ask for much more from Pomeroy’s senior Kenny Lomen-Carr after he cleared 13 feet to take the state championship Friday.

Or maybe you could — Lomen-Carr broke the 13-06 mark in regionals the weekend before.

“It was cold and rainy out at state and his state meet record was lower than his regional meet vault of 13 feet, 6 inches,” Pomeroy assistant coach Fred Knebel said.

“His regional vault was in warmer conditions where he could get a good bend in his bar.

His teammate, Cole Mayfield, place sixth in same event with 10-06 vault.

Jacob Hirsh raced to a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash and the 4X100 also took sixth.

The 4X100 team of Jackson Hall, Aidan Dixon, Austin Reisdorph and Hirsch finished with a time of 46.67.

The boys team took 17th overall with 18.5 points.

The girls team grabbed 19th place on 10 points.

Pearl Blachly tied for second (4-10.00) in the high jump but placed fifth due to a tiebreaker.

The girls 4X100 team of Maddi Fry, Blachly, Ally Bott and Torrie Koller finished fifth as well.
