WALLA WALLA — A windy, wet weekend is in the forecast.
According to the National Weather Service, a strong cold front will spread precipitation east of the Cascades starting late tonight and Saturday with showers continuing locally through the weekend.
Along with a good chance for rain Saturday, winds are also expected to increase with gusts in excess of 30 mph possible. Highs Saturday are forecast to be in the low 50s, dropping into the low 40s Saturday night.
The front is likely to also bring the first snow of the season to Eastern Washington and eastern Oregon with snow levels expected to drop down to between 2,500 and 3,500 feet Saturday night and Sunday.
The rains are expected to taper off Sunday, but windy conditions will persist through Sunday evening.
