Whits riding three-game win streak

WALLA WALLA — Daniel Kim scored two goals and Whitman extended its win streak to three and reached the .500 mark for the first time this season, as the Missionaries downed Linfield 4-1 in Northwest Conference men’s soccer action Saturday at the Whitman Athletic Fields.

The Missionaries improve to 8-8-2 on the season and 7-4-1 in Northwest Conference action, good for third-place.

Whitman took a 1-0 lead late in the first half on a header by Alex Barsher off an assist from Isaac Sappington.

Minutes into the second half, the Wildcats tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by Domenico Del Prete, but the Missionaries answered back. Six minutes later Jesse Mirman scored from inside the box to regain the lead for Whitman. Kim got the assist.

Kim took over as his first goal came on a drive from outside the box that hit the top right corner of the net. Kim’s second saw him beat two defenders and then angle right before putting the ball past the goalkeeper.

Whitman hosts Willamette today at 1:30.
