WALLA WALLA — “Tom’s Turkey Trot,” the annual Audubon Society field trip to count wild turkeys in Walla Walla and Columbia counties, will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 23.

Participation is open to all.

The group will meet at Harper Joy Theatre parking lot, Whitman College campus, 345 Boyer Ave., and carpool from there.

Led by Tom Scribner, last year’s count was 202, and there is hope to surpass that number this year.

This is an all-day outing — bring a lunch and binoculars, and dress for the weather.

Call or email Tom if you plan to attend: 529-8628 or tms@gohighspeed.com.

The Audubon Society’s public meeting will be 7-9 p.m. Nov. 21 at Whitman College Hall of Science Room 151, 345 Boyer Ave.

Dan Harwood of the Palouse Conservation District will describe efforts to restore natural stream beds and waterways in this area and show videos of these projects.

2014 National Audubon calendars will be on sale.
