Dorothy M. McGuire, age 92 years of Dayton, died Nov. 12, 2013, at her home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the family plot in the Pomeroy City Cemetery with memorial services at 2 p.m. at the Hubbard-Rogg Chapel. Pastor Jim Edwards will officiate. Those who wish may contribute to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Dorothy was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Pomeroy. Her parents were Roy and Kate Russell Childers. She attended Pomeroy schools and was a high school graduate with the class of 1939. She married James McGuire in a ceremony held in Lewiston, on Sept. 2, 1940. She worked for Cardwells Dept. Store for several years and was past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge. They came to Dayton in 1961 and she was employed by Dr. Pittman at the Dayton Clinic until he retired. She enjoyed fishing, camping, mushrooming, playing cards and solving puzzles. She was a member of the Dayton Business Women‘s Club.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ron Schafer of Dayton; three grandsons, Randy and Scott Schafer of Dayton, Bob Hays of Coopville, Wash.; and a great-grandson, Max Schafer of Seattle; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; a brother, Harry; two sisters, Leone and Nora.
