WWCC men's soccer season ends with loss to Pennisula, 2-0

TUKWILA — Walla Walla Community College’s men’s soccer season came to a disappointing end here Saturday night with a 2-0 loss to defending champion Peninsula in an NWAACC semifinal match at the StarFire Sports Complex.

The Pirates, now 20-0-2 on the season, will play Clark for the NWAACC championship today at 5:30 p.m. The Penguins nipped Highline, 2-1, in Saturday’s first semifinal.

Ashkanov Apollon got the Pirates on the board in the 22nd minute off an assist by Alex Martinez.

Victor Sanchez added a goal at the 90-minute mark, assisted by Erick Urzua.

WWCC, which had a 10-match unbeaten streak snapped, saw its year end with a record of 14-2-3.

Saturday’s match was the lat for WWCC sophomores Max Smith, Geo Vasquez, Ariel Gonzalez, Mario Guizar, Jhony Mendoza, Jose Herrera, and Ulisses Faurrieta.
