Dale Smythe, member of the American Institute of Architects, was named a principal, while Daniel Karas, also a member of AIA, was named an associate.

Karas, a USKH employee since 2007, works from the Walla Walla office at 5 N. Colville St. Before joining the company he worked nine years for architectural and design firms in Seattle and Chicago. Smythe, the Anchorage Regional Architecture manager, has spent his professional career with USKH after joining in 2001. His projects include several rural school projects in Alaska. He was project manager for the Eielson Air Force Base Physical Fitness Center renovation, which was a winner in the 2009 U.S. Air Force Design Awards Program.

USKH has been serving clients throughout Alaska and the Pacific Northwest since 1972. In addition to Walla Walla, its Washington offices are in Spokane and Ferndale.
