Local musician Melissa Cunnington plans CD release party (with video)


WALLA WALLA — Melissa Cunnington, a local musician and vocalist, will celebrate her third CD “Autumn Leaves” at a release party from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 30 at Olive Marketplace & Cafe, 21 E. Main St.

Cunnington, who is choir director at McLouglin High School in Milton-Freewater, has performed around the Walla Walla and Tri-Cities areas for more than 13 years, and as far away as New York and Kentucky.

She began performing at age 12 and she sang in choirs and played in bands through college.

She studied classical voice, but says jazz, blues, R&B, pop and Broadway music are favorites.

Cunnington has released two previous CDs, the first of Christian music and the second a Christmas album.

Her upcoming “Autumn Leaves” features her vocals on a range of music from jazz to easy listening.

It covers artists such as Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones and Natalie Cole.

The release party is open to all ages. Copies of her CD will be available for purchase for $10.
