Stagnant air prompts burn ban in Walla Walla, four other counties

WALLA WALLA — Stagnant air conditions have prompted a ban on outdoor burning in Walla Walla and four other counties.

In a release, state Department of Ecology officials said the ban is expected to continue until at least Monday afternoon.

Along with all outdoor burning, the use of uncertified wood-burning devices — including fireplaces, wood stoves and inserts — is prohibited unless they are a home’s only adequate source of heat. Certified wood-burning devices and pellet stoves are allowed.
