Council members are Delphine Bailey, Kathy Berg, Christine Broughton, Bill Graham, Byron Kaczmarski, Dain Nysoe and Michael Paris. With all present Monday, the council:
PUBLIC SAFETY: Heard report that the public safety committee is continuing work on a community event application process.
BUDGET: Held public hearing on 2014 budget. No comments were made by the public. Following the hearing, the Council approved a 2014 budget totalling $5.937 million by a 6-1 vote, Nysoe voting no. The amount is up from $5.858 million in this year’s budget.
UTILITIES: Approved 3 percent (55 cent) garbage rate increase, 2.5 percent ($1.50) sewer rate increase and 2 percent (65 cent) water rate increase. All three decisions were 6-1 with Council Member Nysoe voting no.
SALARY SCHEDULE: Approved 2014 salary schedule which included a 1.5 percent cost of living increase for city employees, with no increase in benefits.
MARIJUANA MORATORIUM: Approved ordinance reaffirming the city’s marijuana moratorium. The council adopted a six-month moratorium on Sept. 3 which is effective Sept. 23-March 23.
