Board members are Ed Sullivan, Teri Mayfield, Bart Gingerich, Paul Ruark and Laura Dixon. With all present, the board:
SHERIFF: Heard report that the Sheriff’s Office is planning live-round shooter training on school property on Nov. 30 and Dec. 30.
POLICIES: Approved policies on community relations and community involvement with no changes. First reading of staff evaluation policies which have been changed to comply with new state requirements.
COACHING: Approved hire of interim cheerleading adviser and resignation of assistant junior high volleyball coach. Discussed fall coaching evaluations in executive session.
MEMBERSHIP: Approved continuing membership in the Network for Excellence in Washington Schools.
VOLLEYBALL: Discussed frustrations with seating at state volleyball tournament. Superintendent Doug LaMunyan will write a letter to WIAA explaining that seating was inadequate and many parents who drove six hours to attend the tournament had to stand for the duration of the games. The board will sign the letter once it is complete.
MEETING: Scheduled December meeting for Dec. 18 at 11:15 a.m. The board will hold a lunch social to thank Paul Ruark, who has served on the school board for 10 years. Following the social, the board will conduct business at 12:15 p.m.
