Pirates fall to defending state champ T-O

OAKESDALE — The Pomeroy volleyball team had its hands full with the defending state champions, Tekoa-Oakesdale, here Thursday.

The Spartans took the first two sets, 25-20, 25-13.

The Pirates (8-4, 1-0) responded with a third-set victory, 25-21, before dropping the fourth set and the match, 25-17.

The game was a non-conference match, as the two teams will square off again on Oct. 15 during league play.

Pomeroy head coach Bruce Crossfield said his team showed grit by rallying for a third set win and battled in the fourth set loss.

Pomeroy plays in the Genessee Pea and Lentil Tournament Saturday.
