Puget Sound edges Whit women, 1-0

TACOMA — Defense reigned supreme as Puget Sound edged Whitman 1-0 in a Northwest Conference women’s soccer match here Saturday at Puget Sound.

The loss drops the Missionaries to 3-4 in conference and 7-4 overall. The Loggers improve to 2-1-2 in the NWC and 4-2-2 on the season.

UPS outshot Whitman 8-5.

The lone goal came nine minutes into the second half when Puget Sound’s Robin Vieira put in a rebound of Anne Jonsson’s shot.

Brianna Brown had Whitman’s one shot on goal.
