BOARDMAN, Ore. — Waitsburg-Prescott battled Riverside High School to a 1-1 draw after 42 minutes of nonleague soccer action here Saturday.
Riverside had the answers as it found the back of the net to score two unanswered goals and pulled out a 3-1 victory.
Riverside scored first in the 28th minute. That goal stood as Riverside took its 1-0 lead to intermission.
Ivan Figueroa got W-P even with an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute.
Riverside scored the game winner seven minutes later for a 2-1 lead. Riverside iced this one with a goal in the 70th minute.
Christian Caro, in goal for W-P, had 22 saves as the W-P defense redeemed itself from an earlier 8-2 loss to Riverside.
“Riverside is a really good team,” W-P assistant coach Jay Potts said. “We showed definite improvement (from W-P’s first match with Riverside). We played well. It was a good soccer game. To come back from that 8-2 defeat, we’re pretty satisfied.”
W-P, 6-3 on the year, is scheduled to host Riverside Christian Wednesday in Prescott.
