SPOKANE – The Whitman College men’s golf team sits in ninth place after one round of the Whitworth Men’s Invitational Sunday at the Manito Country Club.
The Missionaries totaled a 339 on the par-71, 6,374-yard course.
Andrew Welch shot the top round for the Missionaries, carding an 8-over-par 79 that ties him for 24th. Daniel Hoffman and Griffin Lamb posted 82s for the Missionaries.
North Idaho has the lead in the team standings after one round, putting up a 1-over 281. Pacific Lutheran is two strokes back at 283.
The top individual score was posted by Dustin Hegge of PLU, who fired a 5-under-par 66.
The final round began with a modified shotgun start at Manito this morning.
