Police: Milton-Freewater house fire intentionally set

MILTON-FREEWATER — Police an fire officials believe a house fire Saturday was the result of arson.

According to Milton-Freewater Police Chief Doug Boedigheimer, investigators from the State Fire Marshal and the Oregon State Police Arson and Explosives Unit determined the fire at 533 S. Main St. was set intentionally.

The fire reportedly started just after 9 p.m. and was set outside the building. No one was injured.

“Apparently the house is vacant and up for sale,” Boedigheimer said.

A section of the outside south wall was damaged according to Milton-Freewater Fire Chief Shane Garner, who added a damage estimate has not been completed.

Police are investigating not releasing how the fire was started. In a press release Boedigheimer asked anyone with information about the case to contact the police department at 541-938-5511.
