WALLA WALLA — Hanford took home a 3-0 Mid-Columbia Conference girls soccer victory from Walla Walla High School on the Blue Devil pitch on Tuesday.
The Bombers outshot Wa-Hi 11-6, with Hanford’s Sydney Shintaffer scoring in the 26th and 76th minutes, and Monica Rowley in the 73rd minute.
““I was really, really proud of the girls today,” Blue Devils coach Keven Peck said. “They got over a huge hurdle — discovering that they can physically compete with teams. The girls were tenacious, leaving everything they had on the field. They worked together tactically and found a new physical level of work rate and aggression.
“I know it seems odd to speak of a loss as a victory, but today was a small victory in the growth of this team,” he said. “The girls have worked really hard to get better and their hard work is starting to pay off. I know they are excited to get back to work and build on this success.”
Wa-Hi heads to Pasco for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday.
