The event is a nationwide day of service, with students working on service projects in their communities.

Whitman’s participation begins at 8:15 a.m. in the Reid Center’s Young Ballroom. Whitman alumnus Anne Marie Zell Schwerin, the Executive Director of the Walla Walla YWCA, will give a presentation on volunteering, community service and student life.

During the remainder of the day, students will work on 18 different projects, including the Care and Share Food Drive, the Fall Furr Ball with Blue Mountain Humane Society and the clean-up day at the Downtown Farmer’s Market.
