ST. JOHN, Wash. — District 9 cross country teams gathered at Saint John Golf Course here Wednesday, with Pomeroy’s Stephen Fletcher taking home top area honors with a 20th-place finish on the 5,000-meter course.
Five Asotin runners took the top five boys spots, with Chandler Teigen winning in 17:40.34.
Fletcher came in at 19:49.25, with Pirate teammates Colsen Mayfield finishing 25th in 20:45.78 followed by Tyler Maki (28th, 21:29.05), KcKenney Jones (29th, 21:37.06) and Spencer Craigie (30th, 21:38.19).
Dayton’s Levi Laib was the top Bulldog to finish, coming in 33rd in 22:10.76.
Pomeroy runners Karson Krouse (42nd, 23:46.08), Austin Craigie (46th, 23:55.53), David Kittrell (48th, 25:10.44) and Dylan King (51st, 25:35.01) rounding out local boys runners.
On the girls side, Asotin’s Lucy Eggleston won in 20:42.06.
Pomeroy’s Zoe Kerne was the area’s top finisher at 25th, in 27:58.89.
Dayton’s Alexis Walker was next at 26th in 28:26.73.
Pirate Emily Jentz (30th, 29:58.95) and Bulldog Kiara Biggar (31st, 30:03.69) were next, with Pomeroy’s Carol Entrup (34th, 30:09.56), Connie Arteaga (35th, 33:02.32) and Shelby Fuchs (36th, 33:24.82) the final Pirate runners.
Dayton’s Caitlyn Robins rounded out the field in 37th in 37:37.29.
The Bulldog harriers head to the Richland Invitational Saturday morning, while the Pirates go to the Lake Roosevelt Invite on Saturday.
