WALLA WALLA — After jumping out to a strong start, the Walla Walla High School volleyball team stumbled to a four-set loss against Pasco in the Blue Devil gym on Thursday.

The Blue Devils downed Mid-Columbia Conference-foe Pasco 25-13 in the first set, but dropped the following three, 25-16, 26-24, 25-17.

Wa-Hi (4-9 overall, 3-7 in MCC play) head coach Don Hepker said his team simply could not sustain its first-set performance.

“We started the match on fire — easily winning our first set,” Hepker said. “Lack of hustle and communication led to a Pasco win.”

Madi Doepker racked up 16 kills and 18 digs for the Blue Devils.

Reece Carman added nine kills and three blocks and Jaime Quaresma put down four kills and an ace. Katie Greene and Lily Kaminsky dished out 15 assists each.

Wa-Hi hosts Chiawana on Tuesday.
