Port commissioners are Gene Warren, Dale McKinley and Earle Marvin. With all present Wednesday, the board:
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: Following a presentation by Elio Agostini of the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation, voted to contribute $1,750 to the Small Business Development Center, which works in Walla Walla and Columbia Counties.
MARINA: Heard report that the Port is working on a recreation plan for Lyons Ferry Marina with Columbia County and the City of Dayton with the goal of applying for grant funding from the Recreation Conservation Office. The plan is being developed with help from Eastern Washington University graduate students and should be completed by March 2014.
BLUE MOUNTAIN STATION: Signed contract with Stalzer and Associates to begin work on a development agreement for the Blue Mountain Station site. The contract work is not to exceed $22,490. Heard update that construction on the artisan food center should be completed by Thanksgiving, and the Port plans to hold a local opening event on Dec. 11, with a larger grand opening to follow in the spring of 2014.
BUDGET: Reviewed draft 2014 budget. A public hearing will be held at the Port’s November meeting before a final budget is adopted.
