Workers honored for National Disability Awareness Month

Workers with disabilities are the unsung heroes being honored through the month of October in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

The Lillie Rice Center and its staff and businesss partners are spreading the word about disability employment and the contributions to America’s workforce by those with disabilities.

“Lillie Rice Center is proud to be a part of this year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month,” said Executive Director Christine Daudt in an announcement. “We want to spread the important message that a strong workforce is one inclusive of the skills and talents of all individuals, including individuals with disabilities.”

The annual event is led by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, though its true spirit lies in the observances held at local levels across the country, the announcement explained.

The nonprofit Lillie Rice Center, 2616 Isaacs Ave., has provided employment and support services for those with developmental disabilities since 1966. To learn more visit or follow the center on Facebook.
