MILTON-FREEWATER — McLoughlin High School ran its league boys soccer record to a perfect 3-0 here Saturday with a 1-0 shut out of Ontario.
The Tigers and Pioneers battled to a scoreless deadlock over the first 73 minutes.
Mac-Hi’s Moises Monono managed to slip one into the net in the 73rd minute and the Pioneers made it stand up for the 1-0 win.
“Ontario played tough,” Mac-Hi coach Jose Garcia said. “They are quick and fast. We were able to hold them.”
Neftaly Cazarez and freshman Eduadaro Corona held the Pioneer midfield together as the midfield play drew Garcia’s praise.
“We had a couple of freshmen out there,” Garcia said of his midfield. “They were not intimidated and (the midfield) passed the ball well.”
The Mac-Hi defense pitched a shut out and Jesus Diaz, from his defender spot, drew Garcia’s praise for ‘a great job’.
Mac-Hi improves to 9-1 overall with the win.
“Overall, we did a good job today,” Garcia concluded. “It won’t get easier when we go to their place.”
