MILTON-FREEWATER — McLoughlin scored two first half goals and made them stand up to post a 2-0 win here Saturday over Ontario in girls district soccer action.
Christy Childers dribbled to the front of the net and fired her shot by the left side of the keeper into the corner to score in the 20th minute.
“Both teams were a little tense and afraid to make a mistake in the first 20 minutes,” Mac-Hi coach Martin Martinez said. “The (Ontario) keeper didn’t even dive for Christy’s shot as she thought it was going wide of the net, but it snuck in.”
The Pioneers earned a direct kick on a Tiger foul in the 30th minute. Gabby Hernandez buried the kick and Mac-Hi had all they would need at 2-0.
The Pioneers dominated the second half but couldn’t find the back of the net.
