W-P battles St. George for a 2-0 win

PRESCOTT — Waitsburg-Prescott and St. Georges battled to a scoreless tie at intermission here Friday in boys soccer action. St. Georges scored twice in the second half to pull out a 2-0 win.

“St. Georges is a very good team,” W-P assistant coach Jay Potts said. “It was a good battle. We did everything right except putting the ball in the net.”

St. Georges broke the scoreless tie in the 60th minute and added the clincher eight minutes later.

“The first goal was a good shot,” Potts added. “We controlled for the majority of time. A couple of defensive miscues cost us dearly. St. Georges didn’t shoot much but they played smart.”

Christian Caro posted five saves in net for W-P.

W-P drops to 7-4 on the year and will entertain Walla Walla Valley Academy Monday at 4 p.m. in a league battle.
