Another casualty of the federal shutdown: unemployment rates.
The September employment report that was to be released Wednesday has been delayed indefinitely, according to an announcement.
The Washington state Employment Security Department said it will not be able to release the monthly employment reports because the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics is closed. The agency hasn’t been able to transfer necessary data to the states. Also, nearly all of Employment Security’s labor-market information staff has been furloughed because federal funds that support the office have been cut off.
Once the federal office is open again, Employment Security will learn if and when a September report will become available.
