WALLA WALLA — The duo of Reece Carman and Madi Doepker racked up 25 kills, but the Blue Devils’ poor defense led to a four-set Chiawana victory on Thursday.

Walla Walla High School (4-10, 3-8) head coach Don Hepker said the offense looked good, as Carman had 14 kills and Doepker added 11, but the defense looked tired.

The Riverhawks took the match, 25-23, 25-16, 22-25, 25-18.

“We’ve been struggling the last few matches so it was good to come out and actually compete against one of the top teams in our league,” Hepker said.

Jacie McDaniels finished with a team-high 19 digs. Katie Greene and Lily Kaminski combined for 26 assists for the Blue Devils.

Wa-Hi squares off with Kamiakin in Kennewick Thursday.
