DAYTON — A straight-set victory over winless Waitsburg-Prescott here Tuesday night enabled Dayton to level its Southeast 2B League volleyball record at 4-4.
The Bulldogs prevailed 25-9, 25-8, 25-17 in what coach Shannon Turner called “a consistent effort” from her squad.
“We dominated the net,” Turner said. “Our passing was much better than our two previous matches, and we worked hard on not making unforced errors.”
The Bulldogs, 4-6 on the season, were led at the net by Madison Mings, who recorded 14 kills and also contributed eight digs. Bryeana Myrick added five kills.
Sarah Phillips was the team’s digs leader with 16 to go with a 12-for-13 serving night. Courtney Mings was the team’s top server (17-for-18) and also had eight digs. And Chelsea Wooldridge was the Bulldogs’ floor leader with 24 assists.
Waitsburg-Prescott saw its SE2B record slide to 0-8.
Dayton returns to action Thursday at DeSales and closes out the regular season next week with a league match at Walla Walla Valley Academy on Monday and a non-leaguer against Weston-McEwen Wednesday in Dayton.
“DeSales will be a tough match,” Turner said of the Irish, who are 2-6 in league matches following Tuesday’s loss to first-place Tri-Cities Prep (8-0). “They gave TCP a good match, and they are a scrappy team. It will be a tough match and we need to be ready.”
Waitsburg-Prescott returns to action Thursday at Asotin. The Panthers and WWVA are tied for second place with 5-3 league marks.
