WALLA WALLA — Pasco won a Mid-Columbia Conference girls soccer match with Walla Walla High School on the Blue Devils’ pitch Thursday, 4-1.
The Bulldogs got early goals from Makena Snider (two minutes in) and Megan Zimmerman (nine minutes in), and held a 2-0 halftime lead.
Abby Buckenburger extended the lead in the 60th minute.
The Blue Devils got on the scoreboard when Mari Arceo found the back of the net in the 70th minute.
And Brittney Puttnam finished off the scoring for Pasco with a goal in the 77th minute.
“We got off to a slow start and allowed two goals,” Wa-Hi coach Keven Peck said. “Today was just one of those days when we couldn’t seem to fire on all cylinders. It was not for lack of effort. The girls really tried to get things going. Unfortunately, one misplaced pass would result in us defending and then we were forced to build our attack all over again. That gets exhausting and forces girls to cover a lot of ground for 80 minutes.”
The Bulldogs outshot the Blue Devils, 10-4, in the match.
“The girls showed a lot of heart trying to battle back and get into the match,” Peck said. “As tough as it is to lose this match, we can still find good things that we did and build on them.”
