WALLA WALLA — Comments are being sought on proposed new regulations for small water systems in Walla Walla County.
The new rules will apply to Group B water systems, which have fewer than 15 connections and serve fewer than 25 people per day.
As of Jan. 1, the state Department of Health will no longer be regulating those systems and will pass the responsibility to local health departments. In Walla Walla County this will be the county Health Department.
In order to comply with the state mandate, the county has developed a new ordinance which will be adopted at the start of next year. The proposed ordinance can be viewed on the county Health Department’s website.
Comments will be taken on the proposed ordinance through the end of this month. Comments can be emailed to Kevin Tureman, environmental health supervisor, at email@example.com or by calling 524-2682.
