Warrior men shut out Columbia Basin

PASCO — Michael Mollay and Mario Guizar tallied first-half goals as NWAACC East Division-leading Walla Walla Community College scored a 2-0 victory over Columbia Basin in men’s collegiate soccer action here Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors, ranked second in the most recent NWAACC poll, raised their division record 8-0-2 and overall mark to 11-1-2 with Saturday’s win.

Mollay’s goal came as the result of a counter attack off a ball played from the right side of the pitch, WWCC coach Chad Bodnar said. Mollay rocketed a shot from eight yards out into the upper right hand corner of the net.

Guizar took advantage of a scramble in front of the CBC goal just before halftime and booted the Warriors’ second and final goal of the day and his 15th of the season.

“He’s been scoring a lot of goals,” Bodnar said. “He’s very clinical in front of the net.”

The Warriors host Treasure Valley Wednesday at 4 p.m. A win would clinch the East Division title for WWCC.
