ONTARIO — Walla Walla Community College placed fourth at the Treasure Valley crossover volleyball tournament that ended here Saturday.
On Saturday, the Warriors lost to the host Chukars, 25-13, 25-22, 26-24, and beat both Whatcom, 25-14, 25-23, and Yakima Valley, 25-17, 25-17.
In Friday action, WWCC was defeated by Linn-Benton, 25-22, 25-19, and Edmonds, 25-13, 14-25, 15-11, and knocked off YVC, 25-20, 25-18.
JaLisa Jose was one of Walla Walla’s statistical leaders with 43 kills, 34 digs, and 12 blocks. Chantelle Zamora added 36 kills and 71 digs, Breanna Mehling had 93 assists, Libby Davison had 23 kills, Delaney Fisher and Nicole Lambert had 39 digs apiece, Allie Johnson had 61 assists, Kiendra Chester slammed 29 kills, and Denise Comfort chipped in with 19 kills.
“Statistically, we played pretty well this weekend,” WWCC coach Tim Toon said. “We had three or four players at near-peak performance at any given time, but a few players struggling. We had chances to win in all three defeats. When we can get all six on the court playing well, we’ll start winning on a regular basis again.”
Walla Walla resumes NWAACC Eastern Region play Wednesday at Treasure Valley.
“I hope the results will be flipped (from Saturday’s matchup) and we can come away with a tough road win,” Toon said.
