MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. — Katie Zajicek shot a final-round 74 and the Whitman women’s golf team moved up one spot to finish seventh at the GolfWeek Fall Preview Invitational at the Baytowne Golf Club.
The Missionaries finished with a three-round total of 955 (+91) on the 5,802-yard, par-72 course. Methodist University took the title with a score of 904; Washington University came in second at 910 and Rhodes College third at 934.
In moving up the leader board, Whitman carded its best round of the tournament, posting a 315 (their previous scores were 321 and 319) and had three players in the 70’s. In addition to Zajicek’s 74, Kelly Sweeney fired a 78 and Elaine Whaley had a 79. Lou Points shot an 84 and Catelyn Webber, who had posted 75 and 76 the first two days, came in with an 86.
The Missionaries now prepare for the Northwest Conference Fall Classic that takes place in two weeks and counts towards the conference championship.
