Meryl Inez Kincaid Purdey, 57, of 420 W. Alder, Apt. 27, Walla Walla, died at her home on Aug. 26, 2013.
Meryl Kincaid Purdey was born on July 23, 1956, in Clarkston to Elmo and Rhoda Youngberg Kincaid of Ferdinand, Idaho. Following early years in Ferdinand, her childhood was spent in Clarkston. Her schooling included a year at Upper Columbia Academy at Spangle, Wash., and a brief time at Walla Walla College. She then married Vernon Purdy of Lodi, Calif., in 1980. She and her husband lived near San Francisco, and after the marriage ended in divorce, she lived in Walla Walla and in Spokane. When younger, Meryl played violin, piano and ukulele, and she continued her interests in cooking, art and photography until her death. She liked animals and more recently loved her companion cats. Meryl will be missed for her humorous jokes and anecdotes and her generous gift giving.
Meryl was survived by a brother, Jim Kincaid of Kotzebue, Alaska; sisters, Cherie Kincaid Rouse of Loma Linda, Calif., and Grace Kincaid Bryant of Walla Walla; six nieces and nephews and their six children.
The memorial service will be held at Eastgate SDA Church, 380 N. Tausick Way, Walla Walla, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at 3 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to Rising Sun Clubhouse at 1520 Kelly Place in Walla Walla, and projects and needs can be viewed on the website, risingsunclubhouse.org.
