Irish top W-P in league action

WALLA WALLA — DeSales won a Blue Mountain 2B League volleyball match against visiting Waitsburg-Prescott in four sets Tuesday night.

“This was a great effort tonight, and a great win to build momentum for the playoffs,” Irish coach Hailee Rogers said of the 25-23, 25-15, 18-25, 25-18 victory.

Teresa Acock picked up 19 digs, and Renee Roach had four assists and 15 digs for DeSales.

Brianna James recorded three kills, was 9-for-9 serving with one ace and eight digs, Stacia Deal was 7-for-7 serving with an ace and nine digs, Alyssa James smacked 14 kills, was 14-for-15 serving with four aces and two blocks, Claire Conley nailed 10 kills, was 14-for-14 serving and five blocks.

Rounding out the Irish stats, Hannah Leahy recorded seven kills, was 12-for-14 serving with four aces and four digs, Elizabeth Ruthven had two kills and eight digs, and Allesyn Lyons came up with six kills, 29 assists and had 20 digs.

“I was pleased to see how we competed,” DeSales coach Hailee Rogers said. “Everyone stepped up and played solid all the way through.”

The Irish host Riverside from Boardman Thursday night.
