Longtime Walla Walla resident JoAnn Tidwell, 88, passed away Oct. 25, 2013, at the Washington Odd Fellows Home, 534 Boyer Ave., Walla Walla.
JoAnn was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Asheville, N.C., to Jim and Irene Morris Hamblin. A high school graduate, she moved to this area in 1959 from Asheville.
JoAnn enjoyed her role as a homemaker, including cooking and gardening. After her marriage to Curley Tidwell in 1990 in Pendleton, they enjoyed traveling together. He passed away in 2002.
She is survived by two sons, Ron (Debbie) Hammond and Randy Hammond all of Walla Walla; grandchildren, William, Brandon, Nathan, Kareena and Matthew Hammond; and great-grandson, Evander Hammond. In addition to Mr. Tidwell, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Randell Hammond; and her parents, Jim and Irene Hamblin.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla. The graveside service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, Myra Road, College Place. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor’s choice through the funeral home.
